Hello friends! Saying that this is a crazy time for us all is an understatement. I was in Florida over my spring break, so naturally, I was too busy basking in the sun to post (sorry)! One moment I was on the beach and the next I was home. Due to COVID-19, I've been home ever since. I feel as though in a time like this, it is natural that people turn to something to take their mind off things. I've been spending a lot of time in prayer, along with listening to the songs that I always turn to when I need to relax, calm down, or just sit and enjoy the blessings I've been given. These 10 songs have been getting me through this quarantine, I'm not sure how I would survive if I didn't have music! Without further ado, here is my quarantine playlist.

1. Common Sense by Joshua Bassett Okay, here's the thing--if you have yet to watch High School Musical: The Musical: The Series on Disney+, do that right now. I was skeptical at first, but it's easily a 10/10. If you liked Glee and you enjoy the High School Musical trilogy, I have a feeling you'll enjoy this! Now that I've gotten that out of the way, many of the stars--including Joshua Bassett, write their own music. Common Sense was only released a few weeks ago, but it went viral when it was posted on Instagram last year. If you're a hopeless romantic and love the acoustic, coffeehouse genre--give this a listen.

2. Hey Jude by The Beatles I grew up listening to The Beatles, my dad loves them! There was a point in time when I feel as though I almost forgot about them. I spent my time listening to show tunes and Taylor Swift! However, for his birthday, my sister and I recorded him three of his favorite songs, this being one of them. When I sat down and sang this song, I was instantly reminded of how much I love it. It's hard to pinpoint why exactly, but in this troubling time, the words simply resonate with me. 3. Let It Be by The Beatles Clearly, there's a theme here. There isn't much else to say about this song, other than it's a classic. You really can't go wrong with this song! 4. In My Life by The Beatles I find the melody of this particular song relaxing. It's typically one that I play when driving or on a long road trip. 5. Yesterday by The Beatles I'm on a Beatles kick if you couldn't tell! Again, this is a classic and you really can't go wrong putting this on your playlist. 6. Penny Lane by the Beatles I was driving the other day, I had absolutely nowhere to go. I just felt I needed to get out of the house. This song came on shuffle and I couldn't help but smile. I'm not sure what it is about this song, but it just puts a smile on my face. 7. To the Mountains by Lizzy McAlpine Funny story, I discovered Lizzy McAlpine when I was listening to Joshua Bassett. Before Common Sense was officially released, I had been listening to it on SoundCloud. Lizzy's song Okay Again came on shuffle after that, and I started following her on Instagram because I enjoyed the song so much! This song in particular is relaxing, it reminds me of autumn! 8. Imagine by John Lennon Again--a classic. No matter how many times I listen to this song, I am always blown away. The inspiring message of peace and unity is something that I feel we need just as much right now as we did when this song was released. 9. Evergreen by August Kamp I love every part of this song--the beat, lyrics, melody--it's one of those songs I could never get sick of. I typically listen to the coffeehouse/acoustic genre, so like I said before if that's the genre for you, I recommend this song. 10. Apple Pie by Lizzy McAlpine Not only do I love to listen to this song, but I love to sing it, too! If I'm being honest, I think Lizzy McAlpine is one of the best lyricists of this generation! The words never fail to impress me and I could truly listen to this song forever. I hope you enjoyed my quarantine playlist! I use Spotify, but feel free to listen to any of these songs on any music platform you'd like! I've linked my Spotify playlist below so that you don't have to work too hard to find these songs! We may not be able to be together physically, we can be together in spirit and music.

much love, Carolyn
