a discussion of self worth

Growing up, I was a confident kid. However, don't mistake that for never being insecure. Everyone gets insecure--whether you choose to believe that or not. It can be easy to focus and dwell on the negative, the physical features we don't like, our flaws, but in reality, we should be focusing on the good things--the very qualities that make us who we are. God made us in his image, which can only mean that every part of us is exactly the way God wanted it. It's quite funny, actually. I've had writer's block for weeks. For some reason, I could not figure out what to post next. My editorial seemed to skyrocket, so I felt as though I had big shoes to fill. I prayed, prayed, and prayed about what to write next. I think that God often shows us what he wants us to see through the very things we understand as humans. It could even be something as small as seeing a street sign on the commute to work. Yesterday, I was listening to She's Not Just a Pretty Face by Shania Twain. Sounds about normal, right? Wrong. Out of nowhere, I had a self-worth breakthrough. The puzzle pieces in my brain clicked. I felt as though I was on top of the world, realizing that I am a woman of God and can do anything I set my mind to. With that said, I'd like to share some of my most favorite scriptures and songs that boost my confidence with y'all.
1. Ephesians 2:10
"For we are God's masterpiece. He created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago."
2. Stronger by Kelly Clarkson
"You know I dream in color and do the things I want." // "Thanks to you I'm finally thinking about me."
3. Psalms 46:5
"God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day."
4. Girl on Fire by Alicia Keys
"And she's not backing down." // "She's on top of the world."
5. Proverbs 3:15
"She is more precious than rubies; Nothing you desire can compare with her."
6. I Am Enough by Daphne Willis
"I am enough just as I am." // "Cause every flaw from my toe to my jaw is exactly where it's supposed to be."
7. Song of Songs 4:7
"You are altogether beautiful, my darling; There is no flaw in you."
8. Man! I Feel Like a Woman by Shania Twain
"The best thing about being a woman is the prerogative to have a little fun." // "Color my hair, do what I dare."
9. Psalms 139:14
"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well."
10. She's Not Just A Pretty Face by Shania Twain
"She is a champion, she gets the gold." // "She's got everything it takes."
When we see ourselves the way God sees us, our confidence is through the roof. We live in an age where self-care is important, from the bath bombs to the face masks. Keep this in mind, though--self care is more than just taking care of the physical features, but the emotional, mental, and spiritual ones too. Always remember—you are enough, you are beautiful, and you rock.
Much love,
Carolyn <3
